What you read stays on your phone. Speed Reading has no server of its own, no account to create and no analytics. Your texts, scans, reading progress and results are kept on your device. We cannot see any of it, because none of it is ever sent to us.
What you put into the app
- Texts you read — text you paste, articles and files you share to the app, PDF and text files you open, and pages you scan with the camera or pick from your photos.
- Your reading progress — where you stopped in each text, your bookmarks, reading sessions (date, duration, words read, speed).
- Training results — speed tests, answers to comprehension questions, Schulte table times, your daily streak, current speed and goal.
- Your settings — reader speed, pauses, font, theme and reminder time.
The app asks for no account, no name and no email.
Where your data is stored
On your device, in a storage area shared only between Speed Reading, its Home Screen widget and its “Share to Speed Reading” action on the same device. The widget reads from it your streak, today's goal and your current speed — nothing else.
Your data is also included in your iPhone's standard backup, if backups are switched on. That backup is created and managed by Apple under Apple's own terms.
This version does not sync between devices. If a future version adds sync through your own iCloud, this page will be updated before that version is released.
Camera and photos
Camera. Speed Reading uses the camera only when you choose to scan a page. Text is recognised on your device by Apple's built-in Vision framework; the images are not uploaded anywhere. Only the recognised text is saved, as a document in your library.
Photos. When you pick a photo or a screenshot, iOS shows you its own picker and gives the app only the images you chose. Speed Reading cannot read the rest of your library and does not save to it.
Articles shared from Safari and other apps
When you share a link to Speed Reading, the app loads that page directly from the website, the same way a browser would, and keeps only the article text. It does this in a private session with no cookies saved, so it is not signed in to anything and the website sees an ordinary visit from your device. The website's own privacy policy applies to that visit. The link and the page are not sent to us.
When your data leaves the device
Only when you make it happen:
- Result card — when you tap Share result, the app creates an image with your reading speed on your device and passes it to the app you choose, such as Messages or Instagram.
- Emailing us — we receive only what you decide to send.
Once an image or a message has left Speed Reading, the rules of the service you chose apply to it.
Purchases
Speed Reading offers optional purchases: a weekly, monthly or yearly subscription to Speed Reading Pro, and a one-time Lifetime purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your billing address or your Apple Account.
Purchases are managed for us by RevenueCat. It receives an anonymous identifier generated for your installation and the details of each transaction — which product was bought, when, in which store country, and whether a subscription is still active. It does not receive your texts, your scans, your reading results or anything else you do in the app. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.
Notifications
If you allow them, the daily training reminder is scheduled on your device at the time you choose. Speed Reading has no push server; the reminders never leave your phone.
No tracking, no ads, no analytics
Speed Reading contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. It does not request the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not use App Tracking Transparency, and does not build a profile of you. Apart from RevenueCat, described above, the app contains no third-party SDK.
Other people's texts
Books, articles and documents you read may be protected by copyright or contain information about other people. They stay on your device and are never sent to us; you are responsible for having the right to use them.
Children
Speed Reading is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Deleting your data
You can delete any document in the library. Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device, including the widget data. Result cards you shared stay wherever you sent them.
Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side — and, equally, nothing we could restore for you.
Your rights
Speed Reading does not send your personal data to us, so in normal use there is nothing to request access to, correct or export. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Brazil, China or another place with data protection law and believe we hold data about you, write to us and we will answer within the period your law requires.
Changes to this policy
If a future version of Speed Reading starts doing something new with your data, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top of the page will change.
