Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 October 2026

Your documents stay with you. eSign has no server of its own, no account to create and no analytics. The documents you sign, your signatures and your personal details are kept on your devices and, if you choose, in your own iCloud. We cannot see any of it, because none of it is ever sent to us.

What you put into the app

eSign keeps only what it needs to fill in and sign documents:

The app asks for no account, and nothing you enter is required to use it.

Where your data is stored

On your device, in the app's own storage. The “Sign with eSign” action, which lets you sign a file straight from Mail or Files, uses a storage area shared only between eSign and that action on the same device.

If iCloud sync is on in eSign's settings and you are signed in to iCloud, your documents, signatures and My details also sync to your private iCloud storage through Apple's CloudKit, so they appear on your other devices. That storage belongs to your Apple Account. We have no access to it and no way to read it — the operator is Apple, not us. If you turn iCloud sync off, everything stays on the one device.

Your data is also included in your iPhone's standard backup, if backups are switched on. That backup is created and managed by Apple under Apple's own terms.

The count of free and purchased documents you have used is kept in your device's Keychain, so it survives reinstalling the app. It contains numbers and months, nothing about the documents themselves.

Camera, photos and Face ID

Camera. eSign uses the camera only when you choose to scan a paper document or photograph your signature. Images are processed on the device and saved only as part of your document or signature.

Photos. When you pick a photo, iOS shows you its own picker and gives eSign only the photo you chose. eSign asks to add to your photo library only when you tap Save to Photos; it cannot read your library.

Clipboard. eSign reads the clipboard only when you choose to paste a document or image into it.

Face ID. If you turn on Lock with Face ID, the check is done by iOS. eSign receives only a yes or a no — never your face data, fingerprint or passcode.

When your data leaves the device

Only when you make it happen:

Once a file or a message has left eSign, the rules of the service you chose apply to it.

Purchases

eSign offers optional purchases: a single document, a weekly or yearly subscription, and a one-time Lifetime unlock. Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, your billing address or your Apple Account.

Purchases are managed for us by RevenueCat. It receives an anonymous identifier generated for your installation and the details of each transaction — which product was bought, when, in which store country, and whether a subscription is still active. It does not receive your name, your email, your documents, your signatures or anything else you do in the app. eSign also reads from RevenueCat how many free documents the current offer includes. RevenueCat's privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy.

Notifications

eSign sends no notifications and has no push server. The app does receive silent system notifications from iCloud when your own data changes on another device; these come from Apple as part of CloudKit sync and carry nothing but your own records.

No tracking, no ads, no analytics

eSign contains no advertising, no analytics and no tracking of any kind. It does not request the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not use App Tracking Transparency, and does not build a profile of you. Apart from RevenueCat, described above, the app contains no third-party SDK.

Other people's data in your documents

The documents you sign often contain information about other people — a landlord, an employer, a client, a family member. That information belongs to them, and you are responsible for having the right to keep and share it. eSign is a tool on your device: it does not send that information anywhere and we never see it. eSign deliberately does not fill in fields about other people, such as a landlord or an emergency contact, from your My details.

Children

eSign is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Deleting your data

You can delete any document or signature inside the app, and clear My details in Settings. Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device, except the document count in the Keychain described above.

The copy in your private iCloud storage is not removed by deleting the app, because it belongs to your Apple Account rather than to us. To remove it, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then iCloud, then Manage Account Storage, find eSign and delete its data. Backup files and exported documents you saved yourself stay where you put them until you delete them.

Because we hold no copy of your data, there is nothing for us to delete on our side — and, equally, nothing we could restore for you.

Your rights

eSign does not send your personal data to us, so in normal use there is nothing to request access to, correct or export. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Brazil or another place with data protection law and believe we hold data about you, write to us and we will answer within the period your law requires.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of eSign starts doing something new with your data, this page will be updated before that version ships, and the date at the top of the page will change.
